Hoofbeats In The Heartland: Civil War Cavalry In Tennessee

What young girl doesn’t love ponies? What young boy doesn’t love guns and spies and, well, ponies? And lastly, what history-loving parent doesn’t go gaga over Civil War memorabilia? Fortunately, the Customs House Museum in Clarksville has the perfect exhibit for the whole family. Through artifacts, photographs, drawings and art from the Tennessee State Museum’s collection, this traveling exhibit explores the development and impact of mounted warfare in Tennessee during our nation’s bloodiest homespun conflict. Can’t get enough blue and gray? On Saturday, July 26, the museum hosts a Civil War Symposium benefiting the Friends of Fort Defiance and the Civil War Trails Program; to register, visit customshousemuseum.org.
