Holly Golightly w/Tristen

When: Sat., May 28, 9 p.m. 2011
Price: $10
If Holly Golightly had been born on this continent, you’d be inclined to say American music runs through her veins. Listen to her scuffed country and blues songs, masterfully composed and executed, and you’d be inclined to say the same — though you’d likely wonder how a Londoner wound up with so much American dirt in her blood. However it happened — listening to The Kinks listening to soul helped — we’re all that much better for it. Golightly’s touch with melody is golden, and her voice — strong, rough and distinct — has the range to go from cheeky rumblers like “Gettin’ High for Jesus” to heartstring-tuggers like the Greenhornes-backed “There’s an End.” The American-born, Nashville-based and similarly gifted Tristen opens a show you shouldn’t miss.
