Hollow Ox Record Release

Hoof-Gazing

Hoof-Gazing
Hollow Ox's Pleiades is a five-song time capsule of late-’80s/early-’90s dream pop, focusing largely on the delicacies and simple nuances of bands such as Slowdive or Pale Saints. Waves of guitars crest during extended parts while hushed vocals round out the trademarks of a genre probably better known as shoegaze. Hollow Ox never attempt the density of My Bloody Valentine—the standard against which all shoegaze bands are compared—but the band is willing to jam it out longer than their influences ever did. These psychedelia-tinged jam sessions are the source of Pleiades’ success, an exercise less in pizzazz and more in subtlety.
