Holiday at Cheekwood

The long-closed Belle Meade Theatre no longer has an organist playing Yuletide carols, and the Nativity scene at the Parthenon sponsored by Harvey’s department store is a thing of the past (as are Harvey’s itself and the rest of Church Street’s once-thriving retail district). But one Nashville tradition from that era burns brighter than ever: the annual Holiday at Cheekwood, starting Friday. This year’s monthlong festivities promise live reindeer, holiday teas, gingerbread workshops, visits from Santa and special events such as the Martinis & Mistletoe gala Dec. 6 — all capped by the evergreen Trees of Christmas exhibit.
