Here in the Global Village it’s become clear that even an island isn’t really an island anymore. The quake in Haiti saw people of good will rallying to assist at the first reports of the disaster. The music industry immediately cranked out concerts and recordings to raise cash and consciousness. These good deeds were well-intended, but there may be no bigger indictment of mainstream music’s inability to inspire than “We Are the World 25.” What it would sound like if a bunch of indie and folk acts played a small, activist enclave and simply weirded all that aftermath into submission? Come to this benefit and hear for yourself! The lineup feaures TomFoolery and MaxZine, Megan Macaraeg, Melisa Gordan, Chicken Little and Helen Keller’s Ukulele. Don’t forget your wallet!
