Bay Area resident Masankho Banda travels worldwide as a performing artist, blending African dance and percussion with singing and storytelling to spread messages of peace, social justice and cultural understanding. Originally from Malawi in southeast Africa, Banda draws upon folktales and legends to inspire his diverse audiences, his American and overseas gigs usually occurring under the banner of his UCanDanc' African Healing Arts company. He's also a certified leader in the InterPlay spiritual community, and his appearance in Nashville teams him up with the local chapter's energetic Pacha Mamas, featuring Angela Holley and Marquetta Dupree. Together, they'll bang on the drum all day (all night, actually) while creating uplifting, soul-nourishing vocal grooves. Visit interplaytn.org for more information.
