Toyota has recently launched the Scion brand, the most unorthodox new-car campaign in its 70-year history. Based on cars that are already selling well in Japan, Scion is marketed specifically to Gen Y as a lifestyle brand that focuses on individuality and the "reappropriation of mass culture." Aiming at trendsetters who disdain anything prefabricated or mass-produced, the Scion can be customized to suit individual styles. An urban-focused Scion magazine, Scion-sponsored events and avid fan sites like Scionlife.com are helping to cement the brand's street credibility with the most fickle buyers. A basic Scion XB starts at $14,995, and can be tricked out as much or as little as you want with an almost endless array of accessories. A $45,000 XB outfitted with a DJ booth was just featured on Pimp My Ride. Expect to see Scions all over Nashville in the next few weeks.
Finger jewels
Why not show that you're a true original who transcends trends with one-of-a-kind estate or antique jewelry. These delicate Edwardian-era right-hand rings from Rare Jewels have stood the test of time. This collection of rings ranges in price from $265 to $9,950 and all are set in deep, yellow gold.
Ugg, where are they?
You thought Ugg boots were hard to find? Ugg has just debuted three handbag collections, made of the same soft, sturdy sheepskin as the shoes and boots. Just don't expect to see them in stores. Ugg Australia and affiliate stores are taking pre-orders for the bags, which won't ship until this fall and are already almost sold out. To avoid haggling on eBay, check out www.uggaustralia.com and then call David Parker Shoes and pre-order your Ugg handbag now (as in today, this minute).
What are you wearing?
Shirt Lucero T-shirt from their last Nashville concert
Pants Homemade shorts from some old khakis
Shoes Reeboks from Off Broadway
Accessories Visor from New Balance
How many tattoos do you have? What do they mean? Too many, according to my mom. They mean that I'm young and willing to let people draw on me.
Lab tech, huh? Those white coats are sexy; I don't wear a lab coat unless I'm cold.
How do you express your sense of style? I express my style by drinking good coffee, having cute friends and trying to be more like Buffy.
