A sweet spot in Belle Meade
Don't let the ZIP code fool you, this great new spot is anything but prim or stuffy. After a year of research, Malibu native Jennifer Ader has opened Sugar, a fresh boutique filled with contemporary, wearable luxuries and super-funky bags and shoes.
Many of the pieces, like the smooth Pegah Anvarian cashmere culottes, are meant to be dressed up or down as needed. Fashion purists who prefer to wear the edgier work of individual designers or small collectives over mass-produced brands will not leave Sugar empty-handed.
Find it: Temporarily stationed in the Westgate shopping center on Highway 100, Sugar will be moving into Spaces (the old McClures) sometime in July. 353-6130.
My Friends' Place moves again
Jennifer Isaacs, owner of My Friends' Place boutique, has been outfitting Nashville women for over 30 years. Now in its fifth Green Hills location, My Friends' Place is a great place to find dressier pieces that are both trendy and sophisticated. Bohemian-chic types will find handmade shawls and shrugs, as well as delicate, beaded "Anthropologie"-style tops and skirts. Playful gamines will love the Petro Zillia and Juicy pieces. Best of all, it's open seven days a week and stays open until 9 p.m. on weekdays.
Find It: My Friends' Place, on Green Hills Village Drive, next to Venetian Nails. 383-6974.
Modern Love
Jennifer Kocak opened the bright and cheery Urban Décor in East Nashville in May and quickly sold her most "retro" pieces. Unlike Ader and Isaacs, this Jennifer is new to the retail world. The affordably priced contemporary seating, lighting, rugs and decor are perfect for East Nashville's young, design-savvy populace.
Find it: Urban Décor, 937 Woodland. 226-0173.
