Who knew the Hermitage was lousy with ghosts? Get the skinny on Oct. 23 and Oct. 30 with their “Hauntings at the Hermitage,” two evenings this month featuring spooky hayrides, historical tours, fortune-tellers, military re-enactors, music, face painting and living portraits after the sun goes down. The rest of the month, “Hermitage by Night” offers nightly tours hosted by candlelight and peppered with stories of the haunted mansion and gardens, with other tales drawn from the front lines, such as the ghost story from the Chalmette plains — home to the swampy Battle of New Orleans. “Hermitage by Night” runs Oct. 22, 26, 28 and 29 at 7 p.m.; “Hauntings at the Hermitage” run Oct. 23 and 30 at 5:30 p.m.
