Hank Willis Thomas works in a variety of media, but the presence of a bright and biting satirical edge brings unity to his disparate imagery: muscled, athletic bodies decorated with Nike swoosh-shaped scars, a photo of an African-American Express card or an Absolut vodka poster with the well-known bottle-silhouette designed to look like the hold of a slave ship. Jessica Ingram is a photographer who works along with Thomas in the Cause Collective, a team of artists, designers and ethnographers involved in creating dynamic projects in public spaces. TSU is currently hosting the collective's work in their Space for New Media, and this dynamic duo is sure to deliver a lively talk.
