Gwar w/Cattle Decapitation at Exit/In

God What an Awful Racket

God What an Awful Racket
Gwar didn't make a name for themselves with their punk-centric thrash metal. Since 1985, raunchy stage antics from musicians wearing giant sci-fi- and horror-inspired costumes are what have made the Richmond, Va., band an institution. While six musicians make up the band—including such characters as Flattus Maximus on guitar and Oderus Urungus on vocals—the stage show also features various "slaves," contributing everything from trumpet to throwing nasty shit on the audience. Their touring support is Cattle Decapition, whose newest full-length, The Harvest Floor, finds the band fully evolved from gore-obsessed, guttural grindcore to gore-obsessed, hyper-technical death metal.
