Though brothers Joe and Jon Silva have never exhibited together before, their art shares a common thread, reflecting the street art prevalent in their native Los Angeles. (Both brothers currently live in Nashville.) Working with a variety of media--collage, stencil, brushwork and spray paint--Joe creates pieces that are playful and mischievous, as exemplified by a rendering of a potentially sinister rabbit that looks like a piece of back-alley guerilla art. Younger brother Jon's work is more detailed and allegorical, resembling the elaborate murals that take up entire sides of buildings throughout L.A. The joint show provides an opportunity to observe how two artists with the same hometown and genes process their environment in unique ways.
