GroundWorks Theatres Robert OConnell offers up another of his original holiday-themed plays, this one a gentle comedy set on Christmas Eve as two modern-day cowboys find themselves assisting a man and his pregnant wife seeking protection from both a storm and the law. Soon after comes the arrival of a dude who thinks he just might be Santa Claus, two members of the U.S. Border Patrol and one amazing angel, who all play respective roles in the creation of a most memorable Holy Night. OConnell exploits the theme of illegal immigration here, presenting a parallel to Joseph and Marys journey to Bethlehem, and his cowpoke lead characters battle wits over the pluses and minuses of Christmas cheer. OConnell directs, and his solid cast of seven includes Jim Wright, Lane Wright, Diana Holland, Marc Mazzone and Lily Palmer, who impressed in the companys recent production of Eat the Runt.
Tuesdays, Thursdays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Dec. 4. Continues through Dec. 20, 2009
