Groundworks' Eat the Runt at Darkhorse

Museum Piece

Museum Piece
As presented originally, Avery Crozier’s play about an art museum’s search for a new head grant writer was distinguished by an audience-interactive conceit, whereby the show’s eight actors arrive on stage, each vying—i.e. auditioning—for one of seven available roles, with the theatergoers doing the impromptu casting. That gimmick is eschewed in Groundworks Theatre’s new production, but this version will still attempt to skew gender and racial boundaries, not to mention offer the potential for unexpected humor. Otherwise, a tale about job-hunting, the interview process and the behind-the-scenes politics of a large, established arts organization should have its own sufficiently ironic agenda. This Nashville premiere is directed by A. Sean O’Connell, and the cast includes Marc Mazzone, Lisa Marie Wright and Adele Akin.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 16. Continues through Oct. 24, 2009
