Rounding out this year’s Great Performances series at Vanderbilt is C!rca, an innovative take on the time-honored tradition of the circus. The Brisbane, Australia, ensemble travels the world pushing the limits of the human body and demonstrating its power to evoke emotion. Seven young and extremely talented acrobats and dancers engage in everything from balancing acts and hula-hooping to quadruple backflips. You won’t see fancy sets, costumes, plot or anything that might distract from C!rca’s mission of raw physical expression and improvisation. It’s the kind of high-flying, fast-moving performance that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. And best of all, no animals get hurt. Humans, we can’t guarantee.
