One-acts about Elvis? What a good idea. And, for those looking for extra spiritual significance, Aug. 16 happens to be the 31st anniversary of the King's passing. Actually, Elvis himself never makes an appearance in Ellen Byron's plays, which are linked chronologically from 1972 (mid-to-late Vietnam era) to beyond Elvis's death, and concern the lives of a Louisiana bayou brother and sister. Nevertheless, the Presley spirit infuses these character studies, the second of which takes place outside the Memphis mansion and taps into the phenomenon of the King's rabid fan base. The first piece, "Asleep on the Wind," features Alex Georgeadis and William Crutcher; the second, "Graceland," stars Lindsay Blackwell and Suzie Wright.
