Glen Campbell

When: Tue., Jan. 3, 7:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $29.50-49.50
Campbell has been touring and recording after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, but the singer and guitarist had to cancel his second Ryman show in December, so this is the makeup. With the help of producer Julian Raymond, the Arkansas native made two of his finest full-lengths: 2008's Meet Glen Campbell and this year's Ghost on the Canvas match Campbell's flexible voice and all-American guitar licks with songs by Paul Westerberg and Robert Pollard. Raymond's production evokes Campbell's session work with Phil Spector and The Beach Boys, and the records marry the style of such ’60s hits as "Wichita Lineman" with the conventions of indie rock. Few artists of Campbell's admittedly middle-of-the-road inclinations have ever modernized their sound in such a stylish manner. Despite his illness, Campbell has retained his chops, and if his current tour seems to be his farewell to music, he's going out in rare style.
