Sure, it might be Taco Store Day — the tortilla-and-margarita-dedicated holiday that has become an American tradition — but an afternoon of good old-fashioned Southern soul and seafood sounds damn good right now. In a rare turn, all five bands on the G.E.D. Soul label — DeRobert & The Half Truths, The Magic in Threes, Coolin’ System, AJ & The Jiggawatts and Sky-Hi — take the stage outside The Judge’s Vinegarroon for an afternoon of funky good times. And crawfish. And barbecue. And … do you really need another reason to attend this? No, you don’t, but just in case — there will be singer-songwriters (if that’s your bag) playing inside all day. But we’ll be outside with those tasty little bugs and the swank-a-delic sounds of the city’s best purveyors of contemporary soul.
