Gary Bennett & Chris Scruggs

When: Fri., Sept. 30, 9:30 p.m. 2011
What if David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar played a show together, but left Van Halen out of the picture? OK, the analogy’s imperfect — for one thing, the show we’re talking about stands no chance of sucking — but BR-549 co-founder Gary Bennett is headlining this must-see East Nashville show with the cat who replaced him in the beloved honky-tonk band: multi-instrumental wonder Chris Scruggs, who stole most of his background scenes in Country Strong just by showing up. They’ll perform originals (from Bennett’s Kenny Vaughan-produced This Ol’ Guitar and Scruggs’ solo LP Anthem) as well as the stone-country nuggets that put the beating heart back in Lower Broadway going on 20 years ago. Highly touted Phil Hummer and the White Falcons open.
