Gallery Talk: Chuck Close's Process and Collaboration

Closer Look

Closer Look
Although the Frist Center’s Chuck Close show has already generated its share of praise—creating a dialog about the exquisite detail many of the prints display—the exhibit is truly about to come into its own. The show delivers a dynamic collection of work by a fascinating artist, but the emphasis is on the multiple steps that go into creating the various print media in the show, relegating finished pieces to co-starring roles in a stripped-down ensemble cast. Of course, this makes Process an ideal show for students, and the remainder of the exhibit’s run will coincide with the beginning of the new fall semester. Get a jump on your professor by taking this tour of the show with Frist Center Chief Curator Mark Scala.
