Maybe it’s because we spent the better of last week in a leftover-turkey hangover listening to Giorgio Moroder’s “Knights in White Satin” and the Cars “Moving In Stereo” on repeat for hours at a stretch, but we have to admit that we’re more than a little infatuated with French Horn Rebellion’s hi-NRG-disco-wave tunes. The Brooklyn-by-way-of-Wisconsin duo’s new single “This Moment” is the the kind of woozy, bouncy pop ditty that dance floors were made for, the bastard offspring of Prince and the Pet Shop Boys remixed by Cerrone, all hand-claps and laser-synths swaying in the strobe lights. That the, uh, flipside of the digital single is “Last Summer” — an understated slow song that feels like it was ripped from a rain-soaked montage at the penultimate moment in an '80s teen comedy before dropping into breezy, Pet Odyssey & Oracle Sounds breakdown — just seals the deal.
