Flogging Molly

When: Sat., March 5, 7 p.m. 2011
Price: $26
Unlike the mythical Santa Claus during his in-demand holiday season, Flogging Molly can’t be everywhere at once when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around and every Irish pub across the nation actually wants some properly rowdy drinking music for once. Hence, you’ll need to get your Irish on about a week early in TPAC’s War Memorial — and then, perhaps, reflect fondly on it a week-and-a-half later. At the risk of marginalizing the LA-based seven-piece as a seasonal novelty, it’s merely a fortunate coincidence the band’s current world tour stops in town so close to America’s most secularly hedonistic Catholic holiday. In fact, like a pint of ale itself, there’s no reason this palatable blend of guitars, fiddles, barn-burning riffs and tear-jerking ballads can’t be, shouldn’t be and isn’t enjoyed any number of weeks before and after the Ides of March.
