Commercialism be damned, you still need to get some holiday shopping done. While Black Friday may stir up completely justifiable fears of being stampeded at sunrise for a doorbuster at a big box store, you have options. Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, and today, East Nashville offers you 5 Points Friday. Your favorite sustainable general store, The Green Wagon, serves as host for the block party, which includes live music (Quichenight, Kat Smo and The Smoking Flowers, among others), local beers, and a home brew contest and workshop. In addition to giving you a fun — and alcohol-fueled — way to shop local, the event will raise funds for Promise Neighborhood, a program of the Martha O’Bryan Center.
