Sure, it's a bit of a trek out to Dickson. But don't you think you could use a break from the hustle and bustle of Music City? OK, I guess all the bustle has mostly died down since the CMAs rolled through. Regardless, a 45-minute drive seems an awfully small price to pay for some stunning work by roughly 75 visual artists from across the country, a lavish sculpture garden, a dance performance from Nashville in Motion and music from The Time Jumpers, The Gypsy Hombres, the Scene's very own art critic/troubadour Joe Nolan and more. The Firefly Fine Arts Festival is a free, three-day celebration featuring a slew of family-friendly events sponsored by the Frist, Cheekwood, Nashville Children's Theatre, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and much more. Not to mention theres a bouncy tent, and--though it's allegedly there to entertain the "kids"--I'm sure the stealthier of us could sneak in a casual bounce.
