Father of the Bride at Lamplighter's Theatre

Wedding Bell Blues

Wedding Bell Blues
This story is so commonly known as the basis for noted feature films (in 1950 with Spencer Tracy and 1991 with Steve Martin, plus a 1995 sequel), that most folks probably don’t know it was a best-selling novel first — penned by Edward Streeter in 1949 — and later was adapted for the stage by Caroline Francke. It’s a beloved comic tale about a dad, Stanley Banks, facing the frustrations and financial pressures of staging his daughter’s wedding. With its large cast and family-oriented spirit, the play’s a natural for committed community theater operations, which describes Lamplighter’s Theatre to a tee. Greg Wilson and Kat Hanrahan have the leading roles under Ronnie Meek’s direction.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Feb. 12. Continues through Feb. 21, 2010
