Empire! Empire! w/Leach at the Rabbit Hole

Sadcore Showdown

Sadcore Showdown
It’s two days after New Year’s and you probably overdid it. As much as you’d like to keep the party going, you just don’t have it in you. These are times when emo bands come in handy—especially those still entrenched in the genre’s ’90s phase. Empire! Empire! sound exactly like what you’d expect from a band that lists The Promise Ring, Mineral and Knapsack as their MySpace heroes: all of those bands in a blender. They’re quiet until the chorus, they’re painfully autobiographical, and they have a fine appreciation for over-explanatory song titles. In other words, they’re exactly the kind of band that would’ve appeared on the Emo Diaries series, if Deep Elm were still producing that tribute to musical sad-sackery. The Rabbit Hole is a house at 1209 N. 7th St. in East Nashville. Local power-pop outfit Leach also play.
