Elephant Engine High Dive Revival at Cookeville's Backdoor Playhouse

In his last poetry anthology, Derrick Brown includes a love letter Nashville called “Nashville, A List of Bullet Holes” that namedrops some things that make this city unique—drinking out of the dog bowl at the Villager and Natchez Trace turkeys, for instance. In his author’s note, Brown writes, “I am in love with [Nashville].” But the question is if Nashville loves him back. August’s 9 Off 8th debacle—when Brown’s Spring Hill Spider Party inadvertently duped a handful of Kings of Leon fans into believing their beloved Mt. Juliet-ites were dropping in for a secret show—certainly didn’t help. Since Brown is still Blogger Public Enemy No. 1, perhaps he’s playing it safe by skipping Music City entirely and bringing his Elephant High Dive Revival poetry tour to Cookeville. Brown will be joined by World Poetry Slam champion Buddy Wakefield, World Cup Poetry Slam winner Anis Mojgani and Shira Erlichman for the free show.
