Ed Clark Photography
Ed Clark’s best-known photograph features an accordionist who was serenading the coffin of FDR as it left a Georgia train station. Clark was a native Nashvillian whose fame-making tenure at Life magazine almost didn’t happen, because the photographer was reticent about moving his young family away from our fair city. Classic Ed Clark Photography: From Nashville to Paris and Back is a wide-ranging retrospective including signed prints by the man himself. Starting with Clark’s earliest images of Tennessee in the 1930s, the exhibit features photos from the streets of both Nashville and Paris just after World War II. The show also expands to include Clark’s postwar work in Hollywood, photographing top stars like Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall and Elizabeth Taylor.
