East Nashville Underground feat. Chancellor Warhol, Kim Logan, The Joy of Painting, Roots of A Rebellion, Blackfoot Gypsies & The Sex Bombs

When: Fri., Aug. 17, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $5-$20
This is the dawning of the age of the festival. Age of the festival. (I hope you enjoyed that Fifth Dimension reference, because it’s likely the only one I’ll ever make.) So anyway, the point is that here in the 21st century, everyone and their publicist seems to be throwing together shows and calling them “music festivals” — some of them slapdash and half-assed, others triumphant and completely worth the price of admission. As far as the local rock scene goes, quarterly fest East Nashville Underground seems to be landing closer to the latter category. This weekend at a space on Gallatin Road, more than a dozen local outfits — among them soul- and dance-pop-infused rock ’n’ rollers Fly Golden Eagle, party time hip-hopper Chancellor Warhol, proggy psych experimentalists H-Beam and catchy lo-fi rockers Sex Bombs — will fill your head with tunes while the ENU folks fill your belly with all the Fat Bottom beer you can swill. Wristbands for the fest are $12 per night and $20 for the entire weekend, and that includes drinks, a T-shirt and a poster. Find more info and the full schedule at ENU’s Facebook page.
