Earth Hour at DrinkHaus

Lights Out

Lights Out
When the city fades to black in observance of Earth Hour, if you a see a glowing yellow-and-white beacon just north of downtown, that's probably DrinkHaus Coffee and Tea. Owner Kat Roos is heeding the World Wildlife Fund's call to switch out the lights for an hour by holding a candlelit party in her lemon-colored coffee shop. DrinkHaus' (electric) lights will go out from 8 to 9 p.m. That's a half-hour before the rest of downtown will hit the switch, so people can still see to gather. Roos will bake up a batch of goodies to sample, and she's gathering materials to showcase the local businesses in her Germantown neighborhood.
