Eagle Twin at Mercy Lounge

Carry on, King of Carrion

Carry on, King of Carrion
When we were young, petulant little hardcore punks in the mid ’90s, Revelation Records—the premier hardcore label of the day—released an epic record of 10-minute songs by a band named Iceburn that pulled as much from Saint Vitus as it did from Ornette Coleman. We, in our hoodies and shaved heads, thought it was total bullshit and wrote it off as decidedly un-hardcore and not worth the time of day. Fast-forward 15 years and we’re obsessed with The Unkindness of Crows, the heavier-than-hell debut from Salt Lake City guitar/drum doom merchants Eagle Twin. So we do a little research and discover that vocalist/guitarist Gentry Densley was the string-shredder for the aforementioned Iceburn. Now we feel like total assholes, ’cuz we’re obsessed with Iceburn too.
