Doug Benson at Zanies

Doug Benson manages to be both a mainstream dude (multiple tries at success on Last Comic Standing and an ongoing gig as the "Pop Culture Bachelor" on Best Week Ever) and a cult hero to the stoned masses of America. The man named 2006 Stoner of the Year by High Times is a writer and cast member of off-Broadway's The Marijuana-Logues, and he recently starred in Super High Me, a documentary in which he spent 30 days sober and 30 days baked out of his gourd. Even in the anesthetized atmosphere of LCS, with cursing and pot jokes off the table, Benson manages to be really funny, mostly through subverting lame stand-up tropes and reminding the audience of that hilarious stoner kid in their freshman hall.
