Donnie Fritts at Douglas Corner

Still riding last year’s One Foot in the Groove, a record with soul and down-home grit in every cut, the famed keyboard session player and longtime Kris Kristofferson sideman pops by Douglas Corner with a stellar band that includes his fellow Muscle Shoals stalwart David Hood. Folks, this is a man who co-wrote the standard “Breakfast in Bed” and gets wasted by Warren Oates in Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia—he was part of Sam Peckinpah’s stock company—and the likelihood of anyone from Tony Joe White and Delbert McClinton to Dan Penn showing up is strong. See him tonight before he heads off to a hot string of gigs in Japan.
