Does it Offend You, Yeah?

As the name implies, Minneapolis-based Faggot push the limits of acceptable taste. Attempting to offend you at every angle, the band—operating as frontman Tim Carroll’s Murder Junkies—sports pentagrams, inverted crosses and very little clothing, while the vocalist barks choruses of “I fucked a retard” and “You’re gay, you’re dead.” Delivered in a whirlwind of raunchy and confrontational punk rock accompanied by the band’s own private dancers, the shtick is uncomfortable, but, as guitarist Jason Wade stated in an interview with St. Paul’s City Pages, “How do you get too mad about something that’s coming out of people that are wearing taco underwear?” Nomadic tourmates Sikhara share the bill, infusing tribal percussion with layers of otherworldly noise and ambience.
