Do You Like Your Art from Behind?

Peter Nash and Kate Hoyer: "Doggy Style"

Peter Nash and Kate Hoyer: "Doggy Style"
Dog-centric artists Peter Nash and Kate Hoyer approach their canine subjects from different angles in this exhibit at The Showroom, a gallery in The Arcade opened several months ago by art consultant Sera Davis. Nash--a celebrity photographer who's snapped Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Faith Hill and Julia Roberts, to name a few--likes to shoot his puppy portraits in the dogs' home environment, often with tongue-in-cheek (nose-in-butt?) humor. Hoyer's oil-on-canvas works are a little more abstract--she uses streaks of color for a more reflective, emotionally resonant effect. If you're one of Nashville's multitude of dog-crazy denizens, this is surely a show worth getting down on all fours for.
Mondays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 4. Continues through Nov. 1, 2008
