’Ello, blokes and birds. What might you say if I were to tell you that, for this weekend only, all of historic downtown Franklin has been magically transformed into a Dickensian world of splendor — a fantastical transmogrification from modern to olden, complete with treats, sweets and meats of all sorts? No, I’m not a plonker or a numpty, and I’m not even mullered! It’s the God’s honest truth, it is. The right-good chaps at the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County have organized 250 vollies — volunteers, that is — to muck about the streets of Franklin while garbed in the clothes and cadence of that most enchanting Victorian Era. Scuttlebutt is that the bloody old bugger himself, Scrooge, will even be there. With horse-drawn carriages, violinists, handbell choirs, harpists, carolers, arts and crafts, fish ’n’ chips, turkey legs, roasted chestnuts and sugar plums abounding, it’s certain to be a luvverly jubberly time. Me? Well I’m just as chuffed as can be about the whole glorious affair. God bless us, every one!
