Ever wondered what the secret communications of a hate group look like? Thanks to a newsletter e-mailed to the Scene this week, now we know. After reporting how the Ku Klux Klan attached a recruiting flier to copies of the innocuous Annual Manual last week and dumped them off in a Granny White Pike neighborhood, Desperately Seeking the News is now on the Klan’s mailing list.
The big surprise is...their newsletter announcing a “Michael” (sic) King Day protest reads like some widget factory’s boring memo about the company picnic. (Even the Klan uses fast-food restaurants to give directions. Don’t forget to pick up a three-piece Captain’s Meal on your way to the hate rally!) The original white supremacy group has some big plans for 2004, including a Nashville appearance later this year. No word yet on an opening act. The other big revelation is that today’s online-savvy, 21st-century Klan apparently can’t afford Spell Check.
For a peek at the true banality hiding under the race-baiters’ bedsheets, we have enclosed the Klan’s e-mail newsletter below in full. We would have corrected all the second-grade misspellings, typos and grammatical errors, but why spoil the party?
