Sure, you could celebrate Valentine’s Day over a candlelit dinner with your significant other. Or with the entire contents of a florist arranged to make your apartment look like some kind of romance forest. But maybe you’re not trapped in a schmaltzy Nicholas Sparks nightmare and you’d rather take in an evening of recently reunited emo-tinged post-rock from Murfreesboro. Your choice, pal. Murfreesboro sad-bastard music stalwarts Death Comesto Matteson haven’t played a show together since 2007 — the members went their separate ways into The Protomen and The Black Winged Birds, among other bands — but they’re reuniting for a single show at The High Watt. Joining this MTSU reunion are Pale Houses (featuring members of fellow defunct local emo dabblers Imaginary Baseball League) and Beards, for the formal event of the season. Wear a suit and get sad — just like prom all over again.
