Dear and the Headlights at Exit/In

Road Killers

Road Killers
Were this an English 1010 class, and were we working on classification essays, Dear and the Headlights (say it fast) might cause a work stoppage. The Phoenix, Ariz.-based band play a brand of sun-bleached Stereogum indie, shot through with more than a little alt-country. And yet they’ve toured with acts as semi-sorta disparate as Plain White T’s, Jimmy Eat World and Paramore. Disregarding what they say about judging a person by the company they keep (paychecks is paychecks), DATH play a relatively loose, ramshackle live show that seems to be winning converts with every new trek. The band’s newest, 2008’s excellently titled Drunk Like Bible Times, is a fair enough document. But live, The Headlights shine brightest right in your eyes.
