Here's a bill featuring performers operating at the fuzzy intersection of Americana, country and rock. A Detroit band featuring a couple of transplanted London musicians, The Deadstring Brothers make hay with a nicely judged simulation of The Rolling Stones circa
Sticky Fingers or The Flamin' Groovies around the time of
Teenage Head. Tonight's show finds lead Brother Kurt Marschke doing a down-home take on one-man-band dynamics — expect tunes from their fine 2010 full-length
Sao Paulo done with Marschke manipulating guitar and drums in true street-corner fashion. Meanwhile, guitarist Kenny Vaughan has proven himself a master of the sticky country lick as part of Marty Stuart's band, among many other achievements. Rounding out the bill are a couple of Nashville performers: roots rocker Shane Tutmarc and bluesy slide guitarist and singer Sammy Barrett, who plans to debut her new band, The Black Hawks.
