Flesh-eating zombies may have taken over American pop culture — filling movies, television, comics and Internet memes with decaying denizens — but it’s still astonishing to sit back and rewatch the place where this undead invasion began. George Romero’s 1968 classic of low-budget guerrilla filmmaking still holds up as a subversive commentary on American politics, racism and our propensity for violence, along with being a really great horror film. This one-night showing at the Cult Fiction Underground at Logue’s Black Raven Emporium features a special introduction by three original cast members and co-screenwriter John Russo, who will be on hand to sign autographs and answer questions. And I can pretty much guarantee you will hear at least one recitation of “He’s coming to get you, Barbara!”
