Crush of the Week

First off, it must be said that Jen Cohen does more for glasses than any woman since Tina Fey started doing SNL's "Weekend Update." Fans of the petite vocal dynamo have followed her from straight-up rock and R&B sets to invitation-only home recitals of opera standards, marveling at how comfortably she shifts from club-catting to classical training. Her pixie-ish good looks and scalpel-sharp wit didn't hurt either. Sadly, though, her days in Nashville are drawing to a close. After 11 years here, Cohen has been accepted as a cantorial student to the prestigious Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City, where she'll join a class of 10 before traveling to Israel to continue her studies. We will study the Torah and Neil Diamond in The Jazz Singer as we hopefully await her return. Also, to correct an item in last week's Late Edition, she would like to say that at no point has she ever appeared in a cowboy hat and halter top. We can dream.
