Long before he was cast as a warehouse foreman with a heart of gold on The Office or a bummed-out accidental time traveler in Hot Tub Time Machine or, uh, himself in the apocalypse comedy This Is the End, Craig Robinson cut his teeth as a stand-up and improv comic in the heart of Chicago. But the thing about Robinson the comic is that he’s not all that different from the versions of Robinson that you’ve seen on screen. Anchored with jokey Casio-keyboard slow jams, Robinson sets you up with the quiet sensitivity of a late night R&B DJ before spiking you right in the face with the kind of raunchiness you’d expect from a guy who wrote a song called “Somebody’s Fuckin’ My Lady” with Jerry Minor. So maybe don’t bring your moms. Or do. I don’t know what your moms are into.
