Ladies and gentleman, light the smoking lamp, because it's stoner metal night in Music City! After a long stretch of metal-deprived months, September is seeing a flood of heavy, brutal music — last week we had Liturgy, there are two killer shows tonight, and on Wednesday we have Wolves in the Throne Room. In celebration, we're gonna get so stoned that our farts are just clouds of bong smoke. Tonight on the East Side, we've got a return performance from Richmond, Va., band Cough, whose 2010 LP Ritual Abuse was, well, ritually abused around our house — if you can call sitting on our couch and zoning out for days at a stretch “abuse.” Fuzzed-out and psychedelic, Ritual Abuse is basically an open invitation for the evil hippie that lives in the back of our brain to roam freely in our living room. Cough is joined by local scumfuck metal-punks Stallion and gnarly newcomers Tijuana Goat Ride.
