Corporate Juggernaut continues their intimate standup series at The High Watt with Ben Kronberg, whose passion is taboos. Subjects too gross or too silly for most comedians are his prime territory, and no bodily function or groan-worthy pun lies beyond the pale. Though a relative youngster, Kronberg has already developed a following and a distinctive manner, flipping through his ever-present notebooks on John Oliver’s New York Stand-up Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! (without the notebooks) and frequently at SXSW. To critics who find his reliance on notebooks a lapse in professionalism, he argues, “I tell dick jokes for a living.” Why worry about breaking the illusion of spontaneity, when most comedians get cued by teleprompters? Fans of the late Mitch Hedberg’s master-of-the-obvious style are in for a treat, as long as they don’t mind a healthy dose of scatological humor.
