Cooking Stages as part of the Southern Festival of Books

Cooking Stages as part of the Southern Festival of Books
Attention, voracious readers (literally, hungry readers): Cookbook authors will take the stage throughout the weekend to share recipes from the grease-stained pages of their very own volumes. At 10 a.m. Saturday, veteran Nashville journalist Catherine Mayhew cooks from Handy Mom's Guide to Grilling: The Fast, Easy Way to Smokin' Meals! At 11:30, food critic Kay West, author of Around the Opry Table: A Feast of Recipes from the Grand Ole Opry, will whip up a batch of Alan Jackson's pimento cheese, along with Martina McBride's bus-stop chili and Ricky Skaggs' pear pie. At 2:30, Julia Reed shows off salty delights from Ham Biscuits, Hostess Gowns and Other Southern Delicacies. At noon Sunday, the Saucy Sisters will broadcast live from the Plaza on WLAC 1510.
