If you need an excuse to spend money at a bookstore, here's a good one. On the eve of celebrating Americ's independence, you can help the estimated 8,000 Sudanese refugees who now call Nashville home. For one day only, Books-A-Million will host a book fair at its Charlotte Pike location in West Nashville. A portion of the proceeds will go to the non-profit Sudanese Community and Women's Services Center on Nolensville Road, which offers services ranging from ESL classes to health screenings to Nashville's immigrant population. In addition, kind souls who wish to aid the center's literacy programs can purchase and donate children's books, ESL language studies, American study books, and more. For more information, call 315-9681.
