For nearly three decades, triple-threat artist, actor and onetime talk show host Chris Isaak has played the part of the consummate entertainer. His classic movie star looks enhanced a throwback sound that clearly separated him from his synth-driven, overproduced ’80s contemporaries, so it’s fitting that his latest album is a tribute to visionary Sun Records artists such as Elvis, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. Isaak is currently on tour in support of
Beyond the Sun, a double album composed mainly of covers, which was released last fall after sessions in the namesake studio. His Nashville stop will be at the beautiful Schermerhorn Symphony Center, where he’ll dig into his considerable catalog as much as his most recent release. Expect him to fill the hall with his considerable chops and megawatt personality. If you’re wondering if he’s still as dreamy as he was in that too-hot-for-daytime video for “Wicked Game,” you might want to get your tickets now.
