Chatham County Line CD Release Show

When: Thu., July 22, 9 p.m. 2010
Price: $10
This route is becoming a familiar one: A young band starts out playing bluegrass — and maybe it’s not entirely in a traditional mode, but it’s clearly bluegrass — and over the course of a few years and an album or three, they modernize their sound from the inside out with sensibilities of late ‘60s and early ‘70s country-rock … and maybe a little ‘90s alt-rock and Aughts indie rock thrown in too. King Wilkie and Cadillac Sky have each headed that way, and, in their own way, so have Chatham County Line, a dapper, polished Raleigh, N.C., quartet comprised of guitarist-singer Dave Wilson, mandolinist-singer John Teer, banjo player-singer Chandler Holt and bassist-pedal steel player-singer Greg Readling. Their new album Wildwood — their fifth for Yep Roc — is their most decisive step yet in that direction.
