Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires w/DeRobert and the Half-Truths

When: Fri., April 25, 9 p.m. 2014
Price: $18-$20
If Al Green and James Brown had a baby, it would be Charles Bradley — no matter that he’s only a few years younger then they are. Carrying echoes of Otis Redding, the 65-year-old funk and soul singer broke into fame in 2011 after working odd jobs most of his life. But hell, listen to that ragged voice. Imagine being a waiter serving food from Bradley’s kitchen. Or a bored tourist stumbling into his James Brown impersonation act in a Brooklyn club. (A man’s got to eat.) Bradley might be new to the game, but his music takes you right back to the ’70s with all that love and happiness. JON GUGALA
